Hermanns Named Exclusive Ontario Provider of Connelly-GPM ZVI Sand Filter Systems
Advanced phosphorus filtration technology helps prevent harmful algae blooms and protect Ontario waterways.

Hermanns has been appointed the exclusive Ontario provider of Connelly-GPM, Inc. Zero-Valent Iron (ZVI) Sand Filter Systems, expanding access to advanced phosphorus filtration technology designed to help prevent harmful algae blooms and support long-term water quality protection across the province.
Under the agreement, Hermanns will serve as the sole authorized supplier, distributor, and service provider for Connelly-GPM’s ZVI Sand Filter Systems throughout Ontario.
The partnership strengthens Hermanns’ position as a growing environmental solutions provider, supporting municipalities, environmental consultants, developers, industrial operations, and watershed protection initiatives with advanced water treatment infrastructure focused on phosphorus reduction and environmental sustainability.
Connelly-GPM’s ZVI Sand Filter Systems utilize zero-valent iron media produced from recycled iron materials to remove contaminants from water systems, including:
• Phosphorus
• Chlorinated solvents
• Heavy metals
• Nitrates and emerging pollutants
A primary application of the technology is phosphorus removal, one of the leading contributors to harmful algae blooms affecting lakes, waterways, stormwater systems, and sensitive aquatic ecosystems throughout Ontario.

Connelly-GPM ZVI systems are engineered to capture up to 88% of total phosphorus, helping significantly reduce nutrient loading before contaminants reach lakes, rivers, and other environmentally sensitive areas.
By reducing phosphorus concentrations, these systems help:
-
Prevent and mitigate harmful algae blooms
-
Protect drinking water sources
-
Support healthier aquatic ecosystems
-
Preserve shoreline and waterfront property values
-
Maintain recreational enjoyment of lakes and waterways
-
Strengthen long-term watershed protection efforts
The systems also support broader sustainability and circular-economy initiatives by using recycled iron media, reducing environmental impact while repurposing recovered materials into high-performance filtration infrastructure.
“This partnership represents an important step forward in expanding access to advanced environmental filtration technology across Ontario,” said Jorg Hermanns of Hermanns. “Phosphorus pollution and algae blooms continue to impact lakes, waterways, and communities throughout the province. By becoming the exclusive Ontario provider of Connelly-GPM ZVI Sand Filter Systems, we are helping bring proven phosphorus reduction technology to municipalities, environmental projects, and infrastructure initiatives focused on protecting water quality for the long term.”
The systems are well-suited for a range of applications, including:
-
Municipal stormwater infrastructure
-
Lake and watershed protection initiatives
-
Environmental remediation projects
-
Industrial water treatment and compliance programs
-
Commercial and land development projects
-
Sustainability-focused infrastructure upgrades
As part of the exclusive Ontario agreement, Hermanns will provide:
-
