REAL-WORLD RESULTS

Hermanns CU-Structural Soil® Delivers Proven Results

Strong roots and thriving urban canopies start below the surface.

Developed at Cornell University by Dr. Nina Bassuk and fellow researchers, CU-Structural Soil® is an engineered soil designed to support paved surfaces while providing underground space for tree roots to grow. By combining load-bearing strength with a suitable growing environment, it helps urban trees establish and thrive in challenging streetscape conditions.

Long-term performance depends on proper production, quality control, and installation. As a licensed producer in Ontario, Hermanns is committed to maintaining the engineered specifications that allow CU-Structural Soil® to perform as intended. The results can be seen years after installation through healthy trees, expanding canopies, and successful growth in challenging paved environments.

Proper Production and Installation Make All the Difference.

Not all CU-Structural Soil® installations deliver the same results. Material composition, quality control, and installation practices all play a critical role in creating the conditions urban trees need to thrive.

As a licensed producer, Hermanns is committed to maintaining the engineered specifications of CU-Structural Soil® through careful production and quality control. These projects above demonstrate the long-term growth of trees planted in Hermanns-supplied CU-Structural Soil®, with healthy trees, expanding canopies, and successful integration into challenging urban environments. The true measure of success isn't simply what was delivered to the site, but what's growing there years later!
