Mulches

Natural bark and wood fiber mulch has been used as a ground cover for many years. Mulch is generally used to maintain balanced moisture levels in soils around plants and protect the root zone from extreme temperature fluctuations. As part of a maintenance program, mulch helps suppress and reduce weed growth and over time through the process of natural decomposition, becomes an excellent soil conditioner.

Native Pine Mulch

Native Pine Mulch is Hermanns own shredded pine mulch and is custom-produced at our Schomberg facility. It is reddish-brown in colour with a medium to course texture and contains blended wood fiber. Having a pine-fresh fragrant aroma, it continues to be the most popular ground-cover mulch. As a long-lasting mulch, the colour darkens to an attractive black as it ages. Our Native Pine Mulch is low in pH and contributes to optimum nutrient uptake. Its good weight and matting properties allow it to easily hold itself in place. Native Pine Mulch can be delivered in bulk and/or installed by blower truck.

Seasoned Pine Mulch

Our Seasoned Pine Mulch is aged, naturally composted pine bark mulch, with a course texture and particle sizing of .50 to 1.25 inches. It has a nugget-like appearance, dark brown to black in colour and is a long-lasting ground cover mulch. As it continues to age and further decompose, it provides the same horticultural benefits that our native mulch provides. Seasoned Pine Mulch can be delivered in bulk and/or installed by blower truck.

Natural Woodland Mulch

Our Natural Woodland Mulch is manufactured from a blend of native hardwood and softwood species. Composed of bark, brush and wood fiber, it is ground to a medium-course texture. As it ages, this mulch takes on the appearance of a utility forest mulch and its colour changes from a fresh brown woody hue to a grayish dark brown. Our Native Woodland Mulch is available in Crimson, Black and Chestnut colours. Woodland Mulches can be delivered in bulk and/or installed by blower truck.
